Ephraim McDowell Cancer Support Center

Located within the Central Kentucky Cancer Center, the Ephraim McDowell Cancer Support Center is a specialized health clinic designed to complement and support existing cancer care in the region. It is the culmination of a shared vision between Commonwealth Cancer Center, Drs. Thomas Baeker and Gregory Carlsen and Ephraim McDowell Health.

The Cancer Support Center is set up to provide the cancer patient and his or her family one location for accessing information, technology and the oncology expertise of physicians all under one roof. It offers technology to do plain film X-rays, lab/phlebotomy services, EKGs and echocardiograms, and physical therapy and occupational therapy services. Another service is education on diet through nutrition counseling with registered dietitians.

Therapy services include the region's only Flexitouch lymphedema pump system for the treatment of lymphedema, which occurs when the body's fluids become trapped in the body's extremities due to the effect of cancer treatment on the lymphatic system. Services are provided by therapists who are certified in the treatment of lymphedema patients.
