New Associate General Orientation

General Orientation is our way of welcoming you to Ephraim McDowell Health, an organization that is committed to providing a healing environment in the communities we serve, built on the best people, practices, and performance.

Our General Orientation covers everything you need to know to start your career here at Ephraim McDowell Health.

When and Where
• Orientation is 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on the days you are scheduled to attend.
• It is held on the second floor of the Gilcher Building (located on Main Street next to the Hub Coffee Shop).

Where to Park
• Park in the City Parking Garage on Walnut Street – Level 4.
• Enter the Gilcher Building from the ground floor through the double doors labeled "Ephraim McDowell Health Central Kentucky Surgery Center".
• Take your parking ticket to orientation and have it validated.

What to Wear
• Business casual attire or work clothes/uniform are recommended. No jeans or shorts are allowed.

What to Expect
• Each day of General Orientation is packed full of information (such as our mission and values, safety, infection control, and benefits).
• On the first day you will have lunch with a buddy from your department and will receive a free meal ticket to the cafeteria at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. This is a good time to ask questions about your work schedule, job expectations, dress code, etc. On the second day there will be a catered lunch with our Senior Leadership Team.

What to Bring
• Prior to starting, you must submit the following to Human Resources:

a) Two (2) forms of identification (driver's license, Social Security card, birth certificate, etc.)
b) Automobile license plate number and make/model (for your parking tag)
c) Voided check or direct deposit information (routing and account numbers)
d) Professional licenses or certifications (if applicable)
e) Completed forms and documentation included in your new hire packet received at Human Resources during your Associate Health appointment
f) Any vaccination records or documentation of TB skin tests that you have had (for Associate Health appointment)


• On the second day of orientation you may want to bring beneficiary information including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and addresses (if you are eligible for benefits).
