We are committed to hiring the best Associates for the positions we have available, and we value those Associates who are interested in

continuing their education. That's why we offer:
Scholarships in Health Care
- High school seniors and college students from Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington counties may apply.
- Candidates must be in the top 25% of their class, have a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1000, and be accepted at a regionally accredited college or university. College students must have completed undergraduate educational requirements and be accepted into a professional health career program recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health.
- $1,000 is paid directly to the college or university for high school students, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 2.5 or higher GPA during the initial semester; $2,000 is paid directly to the college or university for college students, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 3.0 or higher GPA during the initial semester.
- Applications are available at eligible high schools or at any Ephraim McDowell Health location and will be accepted until February 15 for the fall semester.Children of EMH Associates will be given preference.
Loan Repayment Plan
- All loan payments will be paid directly to the lending agency at the University of Kentucky tuition rate, if approved by Human Resources in advance.
- Loan payments must be for an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university, in a program of study for a hard-to-fill position.
- The lesser of 20% or $5,250 per year (I.R.S. maximum benefit level) of the tuition loans will be repaid for full-time Associates based on the University of Kentucky tuition rate. For part-time and flex Associates the rate is 10%.
- Associates must have completed the 90-day orientation period, received an acceptable performance summary, and must be working in the position for which the degree was obtained.
- A Student Loan Repayment application must be submitted to your director.
Tuition Reimbursement Program for Hard-to-Fill Positions
- Must have maximized your borrowing of student loans and submit proof of ineligibility for additional funds.
- Must be an Associate (full-time, part-time I and II and flex) in an EMH hard-to-fill position. Part-time I and II and flex Associates must have completed 6 months of service and not be working elsewhere.
- Submit a written request to director before enrollment in area of study.
- If approved, after the semester is over, submit a copy of the paid invoice along with an official transcript. Grades ("C" or higher) must be turned in within 60 days after the course ends.
- Must have completed the 90-day orientation period with an acceptable performance summary.
- Associates will be required to sign a work repayment agreement and a promissory note.
- Reimbursement percentages are based on actual costs of enrollment at the University of Kentucky.
Time payback for Tuition Reimbursement is:
Full-time: Six months of full-time service for each semester of tuition reimbursement paid in the position for which the degree was obtained (after graduation).
Part-time and Flex: Must work 1,040 hours for each semester of tuition reimbursement paid (after graduation) in the position for which the degree was obtained.
